Barton partner with RoadCem

Date: Category: Barton News

Barton, a leading Midlands based earthworks and civil engineering contractor, have partnered with PowerCem Technologies to become a preferred UK installer of RoadCem.

RoadCem is a great addition to Barton’s stabilisation capability as it broadens the materials we can treat on site for re-use, which reduces the import of materials on site and the disposal of materials off site, particularly reducing the volume of material going to landfill.

RoadCem is a stabilisation additive which has been specially developed for application in road building and hydraulic engineering, utilising a fine blend of powdered zeolites that enables binding with materials where traditional lime and cement stabilisation doesn’t work, due to the presence of organic materials or where there are elevated sulphate levels present.

In addition to the benefits of reusing materials on site, it also reduces the construction time and therefore reduces the costs associated with importing and disposing of materials and reduces our carbon footprint by reducing the number of lorries on the road.

This new partnership allows Barton to provide cost effective solutions to clients and with PowerCem’s design partner Rodgers Leask, we can also offer clients a robust design and build service to ensure that the product is used correctly.

We are excited to be able to offer our clients cutting edge technology and the opportunity to gain the competitive edge by using this new product and methodology.

We have recently completed an earth retaining wall using RoadCem modified topsoil to create the wall, reducing the off site disposal of surplus topsoil, which has not only saved time on programme, but has reduced the requirement to import additional fill for the wall, by modifying the properties of the topsoil.

Barton’s clients include leading residential, social and commercial developers, construction contractors, local authorities, highways departments and private clients.
