Proud to be diverse

Date: Category: Barton News

As we progress through yet another busy month for Team Barton in June, we wanted to stop and reflect on the month that is universally set aside for diversity and inclusion, Pride 2021.

Last year we made a huge statement by wrapping 20 tonnes of machinery in Pride colours. This was a bold statement, one that was designed to spark discussion and spread awareness, especially across the construction industry. Our Pride dozer has been hard at work over the past year emphasizing this point across our construction sites. The ultimate aim is to educate and keep the conversation going, we feel in the last 12 months our business has learnt a huge amount and will continue to do so.

This year Barton, as part of The Bennie Group we are proud to have joined Building Equality, an alliance of consultants, engineers, developers, contractors and institutions who are passionate about working together and harnessing their collective power to drive LGBT+ inclusion in the construction, engineering and built-environment industry.

We have also been distributing stonewall laces and B-Proud badges to all of our staff. Stonewall are a charity that stands for the LGBTQ+ community, organising campaigns and events that support and drive positive change in public attitudes and public policy towards diversity and inclusion. We believe everyone should be able to go to work and be celebrated for who they are.
