Overview

As part of East Kettering’s ongoing investment into housing and schooling, we were contracted to provide the preliminary earth work for a new £5m primary school close to our headquarters along Cranford Road in East Kettering.

We used 50 tonne and 20 tonne 3600 excavators to remove 20,000 M2 of topsoil onsite ready for the levelling and stabilisation of onsite soil. We used Wirtgen WR2500S mixer and spreaders to stabilise insitu earth to 30% CBR for added weight bearing properties. We used a machine controlled CAT D6 dozer to allow for accurate earth removal and loading onto 30 tonne dump trucks. The development of a hall road and excavation for water drainage alongside the road was completed with the use of a Bomag 216 vibrating roller to level 3,300CM2 of stabilised soil

The school was set to be developed over the next 12 months ready for an intake in September 2015. The primary school will be a Church of England school managed by the Diocese of Peterborough, built as a two-form entry school with a total capacity of 420 places.

East Kettering’s development will bring 5,500 new homes to the area alongside new roads, shops, a Health Centre, community and leisure buildings, and space for new businesses.
