It’s time to get busy living

The Bennie Group attended the completion ceremony for the Matt Hampson Foundation’s new purpose built ‘Get Busy Living’ (GBL) Centre on Thursday 20th September, in Burrough on the Hill, Leicestershire.

The pioneering £1 million rehabilitation centre has been designed for the Foundation’s beneficiaries, who Like Matt have suffered life altering and catastrophic sporting injuries.

It was a dream of Matt’s to better provide the high level of support required to rehabilitate those in need. The centre continues this legacy of support that dates to 2011 and the official establishment of the Matt Hampson Trust.

Because of the location, the MH Foundation had struggled for sometime to get the project going, without the necessary road and supporting infrastructure. After hearing all of this, the Group were thrilled to come to Matt’s aide following a motivational speech delivered during the Group’s September 2016 Conference.

Bennie started development on the centre back in November 2016 where Group companies Barton and Peter Bennie donated time and equipment to develop an access road for the centre. Further foundations, drainage, kerbing and ground floor/1st floor slabs where also worked on through Barton’s capabilities in civil engineering

Matt Hampson comments ‘This has completely changed the direction and focus of the Foundation. It has enabled us to support more beneficiaries and their families to find a direction in their lives. Instead of just giving our beneficiaries financial help towards individual pieces of equipment, we are now able to get people together to talk and share experiences’.

It is incredible to think that Bennie can support causes such as this and have such a huge impact. It is not only humbling, but incredibly rewarding to see us working together in this way. It is what we are all about as a business!

We hope many people will benefit from the rehabilitation centre as the Matt Hampson Foundation continues to change lives.
